SOLID WASTE / COMPOST FACILITY HOURS: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Public Works Department operates through several divisions:

• water and sewer
• solid waste collection and disposal
• parks and recreation
• streets and road maintenance
• buildings and property maintenance

The department head of the Public Works Department is the Public Works Director.

The Public Works Department is responsible for:

• Maintenance and operation of all municipal public works, including street, water, and sewer systems
• Maintenance of parks and recreation facilities such as Seven Pastures, Centennial Park, Mollie Walsh Park and the SeaWalk parks
• Maintenance of the municipal trail systems such as Yakutania Point Trail and Lower and Upper Dewey Lake Trails
• Maintenance of public cemeteries
• Maintenance of all municipal buildings, kiosks and pergolas except for the Skagway School
