The Municipality of Skagway is requesting proposals for Borough Assessor for tax years 2025 and 2026, to begin January 2025. The Borough Assessor assesses all taxable and non-taxable real property within the boundaries of the Municipality of Skagway and performs other duties as prescribed by Skagway Municipal Code (SMC) 4.10 Real Property Taxation.
Annual assessment services will provide at a minimum an outside inspection of each property and updates to the municipality’s property information using an electronic assessment program, and other services required by SMC 4.10. Currently the Municipality of Skagway utilizes File Maker Pro. Proposer must provide the names of the programs they intend to use, what each program accomplishes, and the potential cost of such program(s) to the Municipality. It is the preference of the Municipality that all electronic information that is provided by the assessors, such as values and building drawings, etc., will be compatible with Municipality’s ArcGIS System, but proposals not providing this option will still be considered. Valuations/assessments will be provided to the Municipality in both printed and electronic form. Proposers must specify in the submitted proposal, what information will be provided in each real property assessment file. The Skagway Municipal Code is available at the Skagway Borough Website, www.skagway.org under the Government tab, and the Municipality expects all proposers to be familiar with Borough Assessor requirements under SMC 4.10, SMC 16.02, and SMC 16.04.
Interested firms shall submit one original, one electronic copy and one paper copy of the completed proposal in an envelope marked “BOROUGH ASSESSOR” and are due no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the address listed above, or delivered directly to the Municipal Offices at 700 Spring Street in Skagway, Alaska. Faxed or e-mailed proposals will not be accepted.
