Small Boat Harbor Improvements
The Borough is working on the design for a series of improvements to the Small Boat Harbor.
The first phase of this project will involve dredging the harbor and replacing the floats. The second phase may involve the addition of facilities such as a drive down float and travel lift that will allow the harbor to increase the services provided.
URS Engineering has been hired by the Municipality and is working with the Skagway Port & Harbor Advisory Board to design the harbor improvements and produce bid-ready construction documents. According to the current schedule, the construction documents will be ready by August 2011.
A public meeting was held on April 6, 2011, to present two concepts for the improvements. Comments from the public, the Advisory Board and the Municipality will be used to develop a preferred alternative.
